Producers´ responsibility in the development of environmental legislation in Europe is based on the general principle "polluter pays"! Basic environmental EU directives about waste management were based on this elementary principle and they formed the basic framework of EU standards in waste. The basic Slovak legal norm ist the Waste Act No. 223/2001 and the Act on Packaging No. 119/2010.
