Producers and importers of EEE
Obligations of producers (importers) of EEE
- Providing for the acceptance of used electrical and electronic equipment free of charge and for separate electrical waste collection, as well as for this waste’s processing and recovery by authorised subjects based on the waste’s ratio on the market,
- Providing for at least one piece of equipment for waste collection in all districts of the Slovak Republic,
- Complying with registration and notification duties (in accordance with §54 of the Act no. 223/2001 Coll.)
- Complying with registration and notification duties and providing for collection, recovery and recycling of packaging waste in accordance with the Act on packaging waste No. 119/2010 Coll. (producers and suppliers of electrical and electronic equipment are ‘obliged persons’ in accordance with the Act on packaging waste, as they put products packed in some type of packaging on the market),
- Complying with registration and notification duties related to used batteries and accumulators and providing for their collection and recovery,
- Reporting each change to the data stated in the registration forms.

Further obligations of an electrical and electronic equipment producer
- Providing for technical construction of all equipment so that the neutralisation of electrical waste would be simplified (easy access to parts that include dangerous substances, colourful labelling of batteries, etc.)
- Limiting, and avoiding the use of dangerous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (Pb, Cd, Hg, PCB, PBDE, CrVI+)
- Providing the processors with all information required for an environmentally friendly processing of electrical waste, particularly data concerning those parts and materials that are included in the equipment, data concerning the use of dangerous substances in electrical equipment, data concerning recovery and recycling of WEEE or the means of this waste’s neutralisation; such information has to be provided for each new category of electrical equipment when this equipment is put on the market, and has to be published in user’s manuals, on technical data-carrying media or by electronic communication means within one year of the equipment’s putting on the market,
- Informing the electrical equipment users about the request to neutralise WEEE along with communal waste that were not collected separately and to collect this waste separately, of take back places and separate collection, of the need to hand in all electrical waste, of the users’ task in contributing to the reuse of electrical waste, of material reuse or any other reuse of electrical waste, of any possible effects of electrical waste on the environment and on people’s health due to the presence of dangerous substances in this waste, and of the meaning of the graphic symbol.
