Compliance scheme services for EEE producers
We take over the legislative obligations of producers and importers of EEE and, thereby, we save their costs and time and release them from administrative burdens:
- We provide one-stop-shop for compliance for:
- Waste batteries and accumulators
- Packaging waste
- Waste from non-packaging products
- We secure the fulfilment of registration, reporting and notification obligations towards state and public administration authorities
- We help to classify equipment into the correct categories of electrical and electronic equipment and identify obligations of producers
- We monitor waste legislation and provide information-educational services (consultancy and individual consultations)
SEWA is a producer responsibility organisation (compliance scheme) and holds an authorisation granted by the Ministry of Environment for the following commodities: WEEE, batteries, packaging and non-packaging products.
We secure the following for shops, towns and municipalities, companies, institutions, schools and hospitals:
- Removal and recycling of WEEE, waste batteries and accumulators
- Collection of packaging waste and waste from non-packaging products from municipalities which have a contract with us and recycling thereof
- Rental of collection containers

International Compliance Services
SEWA is a member of European Recycling Platform (ERP).
European Recycling Platform are the only producer responsibility organisation (compliance scheme) for WEEE, batteries, and packaging across Europe and beyond.
We are the sole company that can manage multinational compliance for you directly.
ERP offers cross – European compliance solutions in 32 countries meeting each customer’s needs, through a suite of custom-tailored compliance, recycling and consultancy services.
Companies with obligations in more than one country can opt for the EuropePlus Package, which provides a wider range of solutions that harmonize and simplify compliance management and the registration process in each country.
For over thirteen 13 years, we are helping to protect the environment and meet the WEEE compliance obligations in Slovakia. We have the trust of more than 600 producers and importers of EEE for whom we also fulfil batteries and accumulators, packaging and non-packaging products compliance obligations in Slovakia
Milestones of the compliance scheme:
Memorandum of Understanding with the aim to establish a compliance scheme for WEEE compliance in Slovakia – SEWA (Slovak Electronic Waste Agency) concluded between the most important producers and importers, the IT Association and the Association of Importers of Audio-Visual Equipment.
Originallly WEEE compliance scheme SEWA diversified its activities and started to offer additional services to EEE producers in the fulfilment of compliance obligations also for batteries and packaging.
SEWA implemented an integrated management system according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and OHSAS 18001 specifications.
SEWA received EMAS certificate and became the first collective organisation offering its services for WEEE compliance in Slovakia along with batteries and packaging compliance with environmental management and EMAS certificate (the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) whereby it had undertaken to comply with all legislative requirements in the area of the environment, to evaluate, manage and reduce all negative impacts on the environment generated by its activities. SEWA became the sixth Slovak company and the first Slovak company without foreign capital which fulfilled the conditions laid down by Act of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 491/2005 Coll. and Regulation (EC) No. 1221/2009.
SEWA was fighting for market conditions and lower recycling fees also in the European Commission. SEWA filed an official compliant with the European Commission against the Slovak Republic for discriminatory act which makes recycling of WEEE and batteries in foreign countries impossible.
SEWA was awarded the “Golden Loupe” prize for the best maintained management system registered in the EMAS scheme.
SEWA became member of the European Recycling Platform (ERP), thus created for its international clients the possibility for simplified fulfilment of compliance obligations also in other countries.
SEWA introduced on the market the so-called B-boxes, educational cardboard folding boxes for the collection of waste batteries. The first 50 thousand boxes were distributed to schools and shops.
SEWA introduced on the market representative interior containers for collection of small WEEE in office premises.
In accordance with the new legislation, SEWA obtained an authorisation as a Producer Responsibility Organisation (compliance scheme) for WEEE, batteries and accumulators, packaging and non-packaging products, thus continuing in the provision of comprehensive services for EEE producers and importers in all commodities
