New categorization of electrical equipment
Help for manufacturers and importers
The new categorization of electrical equipment is the central topic of the new edition of SEWA NEWSLETTER, which aims to explain the current legislative changes in the obligations of manufacturers and importers. These are changes in Act No. 79/2015 Coll. on waste and related implementing regulations resulting from Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on waste from electrical and electronic equipment. In practice, there are 2 significant changes:
- Change in the definition of the scope of electrical equipment that falls under the Waste Act – the so-called “open range” – from 15 August 2018;
- Categorization of electrical equipment – from 01/01/2019;
The ambition of this material is to make it simple and understandable for a target group that is not professionally involved in waste management issues. We are based on valid legislation and known legislative intentions in the Slovak Republic, but also on materials explaining the European directive and, last but not least, on our many years of experience.
