In September 2025, we launched the 9th year of our successful educational project, ElektroOdpad-Dopad (WEEE – Impact).
This peer-to-peer learning project is designed for primary and secondary schools across Slovakia. School teams, consisting of one teacher and two students, bring the topic of the electrical appliance lifecycle to their schools through creative forms of education.
The school teams participate in a three-day seminar. They gain insights into the “secret life” of e-waste, receive methodological tools, and find inspiration on how to present this topic to their peers. They also visit an e-waste recycling plant. There, they see how e-waste is turned into secondary raw materials and learn surprising facts they never knew before. The project also features a mass media production seminar, where students try creating educational videos about electrical appliances and win rewards for their work.
The Project in Numbers (2017 – 2025):
-
- 158 participating primary and secondary schools
- 56,600 children, pupils, and students involved in peer-to-peer education
- 121,700 kg of collected e-waste
Schools can apply for the project every year in early September. Based on predetermined criteria, 20 primary and secondary schools are selected from the applicants. The project lasts for one school year. We run it in cooperation with the Živica organization, which provides education and mentoring throughout the project.
